When can we meet the Counselor?

Counseling sessions could be arranged on week days, between 9.00am and 4.30pm. It is important that you book an appointment to avoid delay or any other inconvenience. Contact NCMH via Tel: +94 112 685 960 OR +94 115 350 819.

Do we need to have a referral?

Not necessarily. You can come to NCMH on a doctor’s/ psychiatrist’s referral, but you can come on your own accord as well. If you feel that you cannot deal effectively with some problem and that you need the assistance of a counsellor to sort it out, you are always welcome at NCMH.

What kind of problems can the counselor help you with?

Our Counselors can help you with problems such as grief/bereavement, stress, depression, anxiety, phobias, relationship issues, marital problems and sexual problems.

How can you be assured of what you share remaining confidential?

Our counselors are obliged to keep all information recieved from you confidential and they can be released only with your consent. However in a life threatening situation, the counselors will notify the relevant authorities and take necessary action.

What are the treatment methods used by the Counselor?

The techniques and therapies used are Supportive Counseling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Relaxation therapy (DMR, Breathing techniques, etc.) and Assertiveness training.
